You can make super extendy arms by placing pipes in the middle of the air as shown.ĥ. Before I knew this, there were all sorts of solutions I didn't think were possible.Ĥ. Placing objects midair 'unsticks' them when they land.

To have that block moving around freely, you need tip 3:ģ. Use a simple conveyor belt to activate switches in a regular and predictable manner. To make these things work on the floor, use hint #3 (thanks dunbaratu!). To be clear, though, you can have a single pusher pushing a massive bank of blocks, welders, etc- what's important is that everything that's joined together is not glued to something that is itself attached to part of the terrain. Edit: They won't work if they're stuck to anything, even the floor. You can place objects, like welders and eviscerators, onto the end of pushers.
